I often wonder if I am living in the 21st century when I read such ridiculous stories as this one.
It shows just what a fantasy world ‘er Maj and her mob live in. Dressing up in all sorts of uniforms and costumes, dishing out ribbons and ‘gongs’ to family members, riding about in carriages and bowing and scraping to each other.
If ever you wanted an example of a system of privilege, snobbery and deference, which is totally out of step with the modern world this has to be it.
OK, so if this bunch of parasites want to play silly buggers by following this arcane etiquette that’s up to them, but the way ordinary people today are still expected to bow and curtsey to the monarch symbolises the insulting arrogance and elitism of so called ‘royalty’.
Today this ‘throwback’ family still enjoy many of the trappings of feudal extravagance. They have over 700 servants and nine royal palaces and residences. No one knows for certain what money ’er Maj has tucked under the old four poster, but it certainly is in the billions. Yet the royals are still subsidised by the British taxpayer.
I don’t know what Kate Middleton thinks about having to curtsey to those ranked above her, but I bet that she is looking forward to the day when Willy becomes king and they all have …
… to ‘kiss her arse’ !
