It’s not 1979 George !

Up until now I had not commented on the Iranian ‘gunboat’ fiasco because I thought enough had been written about it already, and then I read what bloody George (’mission accomplished’) Bush had to say on the subject eight days after the event …

 “The British hostage issue is serious because the Iranians took these people out of Iraqi water. It’s inexcusable behavior”.

Is this the same George Bush who has people picked up anywhere in the world and has them spirited away for ‘extraordinary rendition’, or has them ‘banged up’ inside the cages at Guantanamo Bay without trial and with little hope of release ?

Oh! and ‘Yo! Blair’ the man who helped get the Iraq war started with the ‘dodgy dossier’ now assures us that he doesn’t have a ‘dodgy’ map.

Let us hope that our sailors and marines will soon be back home and that the stupid bastards who put them in danger are sacked, demoted or better still ‘flogged round the fleet’…  What the hell were they doing pissing about in little rubber boats in the first place ? I thought that the days of ’send a gunboat’ were long gone, but I suppose that if some prat of a ’Whitehall warrior’ thinks it necessary he should at least have the sense to … send a bloody BIG one !

Now I’m sure that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scared shitless after receiving a letter from Margaret Beckett, so I was not surprised to read the latest statement from Downing Street which says … 

“We have strong international support and whatever happens next is up to Iran”…

…     Well ain’t that a fact !
